President's Update for Start of 2008

Welcome to season 2008... It only seems like yesterday we were all toasting the successes of our teams from the 2007 season.

During the off season the executive has been busy. The updated Club Constitution is nearing completion and will be voted upon in an upcoming meeting to be held at Lakewood.

Peter Burgess and myself are actively searching for sponsors to bring valuable funds to the Club in order to realise our projects for upgrading our facilities.

Small Sided Games has been a big change for our young players and the concept has now been adopted 95 pct across NSW. Bonnet Bay was one of the leading clubs to put forward the concept to SSFA which is now a reality for this year's games. My thanks to Rod Pulbrook, Stuart Blake and Gus Vickary for their time and effort in seeing the proposal through and I am sure the junior players will get a huge benefit of on-ball playing for years to come.

We have been working again with Council to secure pre season training. I have pleasure in announcing that we take possession of Lakewood 30 Days prior to our first matches Monday to Friday 7-9 p.m.This is a major shift for Council and we are appreciative of their efforts to allow our players some valuable time on the park.

At a Special Resolution meeting held on 31 January our Club has been renamed Bonnet Bay Football Club. This is a move that a majority of Club's within the Association have undertaken to align ourselves with FIFA and the global game.

Thanks to those that have once again shown commitment and loyalty to our fabulous Club. I wish those that have left to join other Club's all the best and welcome all those new players and hope you enjoy your experience in our environment.

Although not finalised briefly I can say we will carry Marquee teams again this year with AL2 and AL3 mens and approximately 4 other A grade teams.

Roo ball numbers are down possibly due to a growth drive by North Sutherland to bolster their ranks. Women's teams continue to grow at an astonishing pace.

We will still have overflow issues on Sunday but we will endeavour to limit the disruption to the best of our abilities.

Players will be notified shortly of trial games grading etc via email so be on the lookout for these dates

If you are interested in nominating for coach or manager please contact our Club Coach Gus Vickary.

Any questions or issues feel free to drop me a mail and I will attend to it immediately.

GO THE BAY!!
