Bonnet Bay Soccer Club President's Report for 2007
Season 2007 has been another successful year for our fantastic club. 34 teams, 466 registered players, 10 finalists, 7 grand finalists and 3 premierships. What can I say! This year was even more pleasing to see the fruits of a dedicated group of coaches for reaching the grand final not only in 21A but also W18A and AL3.
This takes nothing away from all our other teams that have played fairly throughout the competition and continue to receive applause from our opposition. The committee is very conscious of the limitations on a one-field club and we are committed to working with the Association and Council to secure another pitch albeit for training purposes only.
Our sponsors have once again truly excelled with their generosity not only in monetary terms but gifts in kind which really help a community-based club survive.
This year I serve the members as a non-playing president for the club. This has allowed me to view many more games throughout the season and help out more around the games and the off field duties.
In our 26th year it is fitting to reward service by announcing 3 life members to the Club. Gavin Stewart is inducted for playing his 25th season, an amazing effort given the club's history. Brian Peddie out outgoing treasurer has served the club for the past 12 years and Kevin Boyle for his work in the club's early years and now with the successful AL3 team (4 years in a row premiers), life member of the SSRA and the NSWSFRA and long term sponsor of our fine sporting group.
I must thank the committee for their tireless work this year. The results on the field are testament to their diligence. Our coaches and managers have provided guidance, leadership and dedication to their roles and have delivered successes right across the Club. Thanks also go to the SSRA for the job that the referees provide. Without them we wouldn’t play the game and although it may seem a thankless task for them they do a great job in educating our young ones to hopefully hold that information into the senior years.
This year our social scene has probably waned considerably. Maybe it is due to not having a social committee but I also think a number of our plans were disrupted by wet weather.
I would personally like to thank our previous committee that has made my transition into the role easier this year and look forward to a bigger better and stronger Bonnet Bay Soccer Club in season 2008
GO THE BAY!!!
